Class Descriptions Term 1 - 2012
Begginers - Habibi Ya Eini
an old favourite with a modern twist; this new beginners choreography is suitable for the absolute beginner or a beginner wishing to consolidate their knowledge of the basics. It is a modern Egyptian choreography that is bouncy, cheeky and full of fun.
Belly Fit
Join Danni for this fun filled hour of nonstop fitness and muscle strengthening workout. No choreography taught. Combinations are repeated until everyone can follow easily. It is suitable for all levels of dance ability. Bring along hand weights.
Beginners/Progressive Beginners Bridgewater
This class provides an introduction to belly dance for beginners and an opportunity to refine basic techniques for dances with some experience. Over the course of term, we will incorporate basic belly dance moves and combinations intro a dramatic choreography with a touch of gypsy flair. Bring along a veil and enjoy the drama of the classic Arabic song Nebtidi Mnain El Hikaya.
Easy Intermediate - Kiskivrak
A boppy choreography to a Turkish tune with a Mediterranean feel; consolidating the basics of beginners level belly dance and adding some new moves to facilitate students in their progression upwards to Intermediate classes and beyond!
Intermediate Indian Fusion
A new Indian Fusion piece by Danni, revisiting some of our favourite combos from 2010; the Indian sidewinders, Thai slides, Hakini Arabic etc, and of course lots of lovely hand Mudras.
Intermediate Tribal - Caravan
This choreography is done in small groups of either 3, 4 or 5, with dancers doing different things at different times, weaving intricate floor patterns to create a dynamic flowing spectacle. This is a great introduction into the world of Tribal; dancing as a group and playing your role to form interesting visual patterns when seen as a whole.
Intermediate Plus Voi Veil
Building on last terms newly learned skills this new choreography will be a little faster. Students will work with partners to make pretty visual effects with the Voi veil.
Progressive Beginners/Intermediate - Bridgewater
A blending tribal and belly dance moves with the opportunity for some improvisation in a quirky and fun circus/burlesque fusion choreography to the hypnotic "Roustabout" by Beats Antique.
Progressive Intermediate - The Awakening...
Wings/veil Choreography
Learn the techniques of veil and wing manipulation. This piece is dramatic orchestral and mysterious, it has a “film score” aesthetic and has some interesting rhythms to contend with.
Advanced Fusion
A jam packed choreography beginning slowly then speeding up with some hot drum rhythms, combining belly dance technique with tribal fusion and contemporary combinations; this will knock your socks off!
Advanced Hot Combos
Gulten’s Hot Combinations & choreography. The choreography is to be advised but as you know with Gulten you are never disappointed. Learn some combinations you would never had thought of in this fast paced class.
Advanced Drum Solo - Freedom Drum Solo
Another great drum solo from Myra; this piece changes from one Middle Eastern rhythm to another; a real “mixed salad” of moves and combinations!
